Ethel Raufman Dorfman

Ethel Raufman Dorfman, age 95, of The Manor of Chestnut Hill in Philadelphia, PA, died on Wednesday morning,December 30, 2009. Ethel was born in Troy, NY, and resided there for many years. She later moved to Pembroke Pines, Florida, in 1969, and them moved to Philadelphia in 2003.

Ethel was a member of the Beth Tephilah Synagogue in Troy and a former member of Temple Beth El in Troy. She was employed for many years by the NYS Dept. of Taxation and Finance. Ethel volunteered her time at Memorial West Hospital in Florida. She was the President of Talking Books at Century Village in Pembroke Pines, Florida.  Ethel was a life member of Hadassah, a member of B’nai B’rith and Women’s American ORT.

She was married to Herman Dorfman until his passing in 1997. She is survived by her loving daughters, Marsha ( Robert) Snyder of Baldwinsville, NY, Rosalyn Dorfman ( Dieter Bueckert) of Orlando, Florida and Sandra ( Robert) Thomas of Chestnut Hill ( Philadelphia, PA) . She was the cherished grandmother of Caitlyn Thomas Kennedy and her husband Terry and Lesley Snyder. She is also survived by a sister, Frieda Huppert of Schenectady, NY and Sudbury, Massachusetts. Ethel was predeceased by 2 brothers, Arthur and Seymour Raufman and a sister, Sylvia Maurer.

Services will be held at the Beth Tephilah Cemetery, Spring Avenue, Troy, NY, on Sunday January 10, 2010 at 11:00am. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 12th at 2:00pm at the Manor of Chestnut Hill, 495 East Abington Avenue Philadelphia, PA. Sarita “Sally” Quinn Harty

Sarita “Sally” Harty, 76, died after a short illness on Saturday, Dec. 26, 2009 at Albert Einstein Medical Center. Born on Aug. 4, 1933, Sally was a lifelong resident of Philadelphia and a graduate of Chestnut Hill College and Sacred Heart Academy in Overbrook, PA. Although Sally worked at Temple Hospital for many years, she will best be remembered as devoting her life to the service of God and to others. She resided at  Bethlehem Retirement Village in Flourtown for her last 20 years and was dedicated to assisting the Sisters of Saint Joseph and other residents.

Sally is survived by her brother James and his wife Ann, of Pittsburgh, PA, her brother William and his wife Claire of Morristown, N.J., and by 12 nieces and nephews.

Her funeral mass and internment will be at Assumption Parish in Morristown, NJ on Saturday, Jan. 9 at noon. Arrangements are by the Doyle Funeral Home, 106 Maple Ave., Morristown N.J.
