![]() Hill wins national award Chestnut Hill has been selected to be one of 12 Distinctive Destinations by the National Trust for Historic Preservation, according to information received by the Chestnut Hill Business Association. Chestnut Hill is the only community in Pennsylvania to receive the distinction. Mayor Michael Nutter will receive the award from the trust on Chestnut Hill’s behalf in a ceremony at 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 3 at TD Bank, 8600 Germantown Ave. Chestnut Hill won the award based on an application completed and submitted by the CHBA (see last week’s story, “Business association hopes the Hill gets a star turn in national contest”). This year, for the first time, the public will determine which of the 12 destinations will be the 2010 Fan Favorite. People across the country can vote as often as they like for their favorite city or town on this year’s list (deadline for voting is Feb. 28). The Fan Favorite winner will be announced on March 1. As part of the association’s voting campaign, there will be a great deal of activity on the Avenue this Saturday, Feb. 6, including appearances by the Phillie Phanaitc, an engine from Chestnut Hill’s Fire Company 37, music and other activities. Check the Local online atwww.chestnuthilllocal.com for coverage of the award event and for more information about Saturday’s activities as more details become known.
