L&I clears way for deli case at food market

After a tumultuous week, Jennifer Zoga was able to put to rest her concerns over a recent citation from the Department of Licenses and Inspections. Zoga, through her landlord’s attorney, applied for and received the proper permit to operate her deli case.

“I’m pleased that it was solved,” Zoga said, “and that it was not as complicated as it once seemed.”



Streets Department relents on curbside trash collection

On March 16, Gary Howell gave Mt. Airy residents near the Trolley Car Diner some welcome news: Trash would continue to be collected in the alleyways.

Though seemingly inconsequential, this announcement from the city’s Assistant Administrator for Sanitation Collection offered a partial solution to the more than month-long dispute between residents and the Streets Department, which wanted to move trash and recycling collection for area residents to the street.



8 secure seats for CHCA board,eliminate need for an election

Eight people have secured seats on the Chestnut Hill Community Association board  simply by filing their nomination petitions on time (last Friday at 5 p.m.). There were eight vacant seats and only eight nominees, meaning there will be no board election at the CHCA’s annual meeting on Wednesday, April 21.



Teens and OMC join forces to help Haiti

Teenagers, Inc. and Our Mother of Consolation Parish are teaming up for “Hands Together for Haiti,” a benefit that will recognize Haiti during the annual walk for the Stations of the Cross on Good Friday, April 2, at 12 p.m.
