![]() L&I clears way for deli case at food market After a tumultuous week, Jennifer Zoga was able to put to rest her concerns over a recent citation from the Department of Licenses and Inspections. Zoga, through her landlord’s attorney, applied for and received the proper permit to operate her deli case. “I’m pleased that it was solved,” Zoga said, “and that it was not as complicated as it once seemed.” Zoga’s attorney filed an application with L&I last week for a permit to have in her store a deli case offering prepared foods made off-site and sliced deli meats. The permit was approved 24 hours later. “I’m still not sure what happened, and it makes me wary,” Zoga said of the initial complaints. “I feel uneasy that the people who complained chose to remain anonymous.” The permit application came on the heels of two separate visits from city inspectors. In February, L&I sent someone to investigate a complaint that Zoga’s deli case was not legal. In March the health department followed suit. Zoga also noticed a negative reply to her blog about the deli-case situation from someone with the screen name “phillieFan” who wrote, “Obviously GFM management is poorly informed, poorly advised and has little regard for nearby residents whose concerns should be of paramount importance in this type of situation.” “Their tone is intimidating,” Zoga said. For now, the Good Food Market has quieted its critics.
