![]() Quidditch: It’s not just for wizards
Wizards, seekers, keepers and chasers roamed the soccer fields on broomsticks at Chestnut Hill College last Saturday afternoon and competed in the first “Brotherly Love Cup,” a regional intercollegiate Quidditch tournament in which competitors play a real seven-on-seven version of the game played by Harry Potter and company in J.K. Rowling’s novels. In the books the characters fly around on broomsticks, seeking a golden ball and compete against wizards and other fantastical characters in tournaments. West Nile virus found in Pastorius Park mosquitos Philadelphia’s Health Department has confirmed that a case of West Nile Virus was reported in Chestnut Hill in September. According to department spokesperson Jeff Moran, the adult victim is home and recovering. After the case was reported, testing on mosquitoes at Pastorius Park was positive for West Nile Virus. According to a report from the Health Department’s Vector Control Services, numerous samples of mosquitoes were captured and tested positive for the virus. Vector Control services sprayed the pond with a low-toxicity, no-residue treatment. Chestnut Hill Academy Hall of Fame inducts 2 teams, 7 individuals
Two Inter-Academic championship teams and seven individuals comprise the Chestnut Hill Academy Hall of Fame’s fourth class of inductees. The group, to be inducted Oct. 29, brings the total membership in the hall since it was founded a decade ago to 47 individuals and 8 teams. |
