The following is for crimes reported in Chestnut Hill and Mt. Airy for the period from Feb. 25 to March 3. (Some crimes that occurred on dates earlier than the current period but weren’t reported until later are included.) 

Chestnut Hill:

Oct. 17, 2022 Sexual assault. A woman reported being vaginally penetrated with the offender’s fingers without her consent.

Dec. 23, 2023 Intimidation/threats. Springside Chestnut Hill Academy reported recently learning that on Dec. 23, a former student used social media to threaten to “shoot up the school.” According to the school,  police did not consider the threat to be imminent.

Feb. 27 Motor vehicle theft. A man reported his car going missing from the 200 block of West Evergreen Avenue. The car was recovered on the 5600 block of Utah Street and his factory key no longer worked.

Feb. 27 Burglary. Moneza Cleaners, located on the 8000 block of Germantown Avenue, had its window smashed and cash was stolen from the register. 

Feb. 27 Theft from motor vehicle. A woman reported $4,000 in cash being stolen out of an envelope that was placed in her vehicle. There were no signs of forced entry.

March 1 Shoplifting. A man left CVS, located on the 7700 block of Germantown Avenue, with merchandise he did not pay for.

Mt. Airy:

Feb. 23 Theft of motor vehicle parts. A man reported the license plate being stolen from his car, which was parked on the unit block of East Hortter Street.

Feb. 25 Motor vehicle theft. A man reported his car window being shattered while parked on the 6500 block of Magnolia Street. The steering column was also tampered with.

Feb. 25 Theft from motor vehicle. A woman who parked her car on Kitchens Lane near the Wissahickon Valley Park trailhead reported her car window being smashed while she was gone. Her purse and credit cards were stolen.

Feb. 26 Motor vehicle theft. A man reported his car going missing from the 300 block of East Phil Ellena Street.

Feb. 27 Theft. A woman witnessed her car keys being stolen by an offender she knew. When she texted him about giving them back, he said he didn’t have them. 

Feb. 29 Shoplifting. A man left Wawa, located on the 7200 block of Germantown Avenue, with merchandise he did not pay for.

March 1 Shoplifting. A man left Wawa, located on the 7200 block of Germantown Avenue, with merchandise he did not pay for.

March 1 Theft from motor vehicle. A woman reported a firearm going missing from her vehicle, which was parked on the 6400 block of Ardleigh Street.

March 1 Theft. A man reported a package going missing from his stoop, located on the 6800 block of Cresheim Road.
