Philadelphia mayoral candidate Cherelle Parker captivated SCH Horizons students on the last day of their six-week session when she visited the program for their “Harambee.” The Swahili word for "pulling together,” Harambee circle time includes singing and dancing and closes out each week with a special guest or activity. Parker read "Wilma Unlimited: How Wilma Rudolph Became the World's Fastest Woman." Other special Harambee guests this summer included State Senator Art Haywood, Councilwoman Cindy Bass and State Representative Tarik Khan. Now in its third year, the Horizons program at Springside Chestnut Hill Academy offers a high-quality, hands-on summer learning for Philadelphia public school students.
