The Philadelphia Police Department’s 14th District responded to a burglary alarm at Chestnut Hill’s Fine Wine & Good Spirits store, located at 8705 Germantown Ave., after it was burglarized in the middle of the night. At approximately 1:30 a.m., an offender threw a rock through the front glass window and entered the store. He then fled the location with merchandise from the store. There has not yet been an arrest made, but the investigation is active and ongoing with Northwest Detectives.

Katie Worrall, a longtime volunteer for the Chestnut Hill Conservancy and former editor of the Chestnut Hill Local, recently completed a 16-year project cataloging photographs from the Local. During the project, she cataloged more than 9,000 photographs published in the paper from 1970 to 2002. Worrall started at the Local in 1978 and became its editor in 2001. She left the paper in 2004. Her Chestnut Hill Local photograph collection is available to the public for research via the online photo collection link on the Conservancy’s website, chconservancy.org.
