The current view is startling, but consistent with what has been planned for 10 years. A good number of trees removed were dead and dying, and/or a hazard to Germantown Avenue. There were not as many trees removed as you might think. A large part of the area was already open space, used for overflow event parking. Once trees along the Ave were removed this area became visible. The only surprise to me is the amount of retaining walls in the renderings, but I guess that is unavoidable given the steep slope. The College is preserving 19 acres of woodland (between Gtn Ave and the creek) via ea*****ts or green space grants. I think their project is commendable and a benefit to the community.
