As we embark on another year, Awbury Arboretum, a vibrant 56-acre free public garden and farm serving Northwest Philadelphia, aims to cultivate a community and land stewardship. We have always been and will continue to be an accessible greenspace that fosters learning, recreation, and peace. Building on the social justice values of our Quaker founders, Awbury grounds shelter and protect both social and biological diversity. We envision Awbury as a vital part of a greener, healthier Philadelphia that encourages an ever-deepening integration of city life and the natural world.

Our work at Awbury is rooted in:

Stewardship. We love this place and want to leave it better than we found it. In 2025, we will replace the beloved Cope House’s roof to preserve our historic landmark.

Inclusivity. We believe everyone belongs in our space and we actively create opportunities to welcome more diverse communities, as demonstrated by our diverse partnerships.

Play. We offer safe spaces that encourage creativity and curiosity for all ages, like our AdventureWoods natural play area and interactive seasonal events.

Integrity. We foster a spirit of openness and align our actions with our communications and values; we welcome community feedback and ideas.

Learning. We believe in the power of knowledge to inspire, engage, and shape a sustainable future, with programs like Awbury Adventures Summer Camp and Field Studies that connect participants to nature.

Relationships. We value human connections and are stronger through our partnerships within the community and beyond, including collaborations with local schools and businesses.

Sustainability. We are committed to ecological and organizational health at Awbury, and also to protecting the environment in our neighborhood.

Awbury Arboretum is more than a beautiful green space. It's a living canvas for creativity and ingenuity. As an organization that thrives on community involvement and collaboration, we embrace the ideas, energy, and input of all who visit. In 2025, we invite both new and familiar faces to return to our 56 acres to dream, create, and connect. With diverse programming, our beloved summer camp, and a newly revamped rental program, Awbury is opening its doors wider than ever to the greater Philadelphia community. We are committed to being a free resource where people of all ages and backgrounds can explore their passions, develop new skills, and spark inspiration. Whether it’s through a quiet stroll, a lively family gathering, or a hands-on workshop, we hope Awbury continues to be a place where innovation and community engagement flourish.

We’re optimistic that 2025 will be another successful year, allowing us to expand our support for even more families and continue providing outdoor adventures to children in our community. And, we’re excited to continue building connections through these signature events:
