According to studies conducted by the Endocrine Society and the International Pollutants Elimination Network, plastics and synthetic materials, which are everywhere in our lives, are leaching harmful chemicals into our bodies.
Plastics are made with endocrine-disrupting chemicals or EDCs which drastically affect the human hormonal and reproductive system, have been linked to cancer, diabetes, and reproductive disorders, as well as neurological impairments of development in children and fetuses. EDCs in the form of micro and nano plastics can be found anywhere from our food, water, and cookware, to cosmetics and children's toys.
Next time you reach for something plastic, check if glass, metal, paper, or wood could be used as an alternative. Just because it's easy does not mean it's good for your body.
