This month, the Bird in Hand consignment shop donated $5,000 to the Chestnut Hill Garden District Fund in honor of Dottie Sheffield, the woman who founded both organizations. Sheffield died last month at 96 years old. “We did this to honor her because she was our founder, but also to remind the community what an important role she had in so much of what we enjoy about Chestnut Hill today,” said Sandra Patty, executive director.
