Building Sustainable, Resilient Communities: A Meigs Award Evening

Posted

Jerome Shabazz, founder and director of the Overbrook Environmental Education Center, believes in a new kind of people-centered environmentalism that “creates the social architecture for sustainable and resilient communities,” especially in vulnerable neighborhoods. After being honored with our 15th annual Henry Meigs Environmental Leadership Award, Jerome will share his insights into building this architecture, the pillars of which are “inclusion, equity, prosperity, trust, and justice.” A panel of experts join Jerome to discuss this new movement, and the group will respond to your questions.

In addition, Philadelphia's Sabirah Mahmoud will be presented with the Henry Meigs Youth Environmental Leadership Award for her work leading climate strikes statewide.
