The Chestnut Hill Community Association’s Deck the Door Contest ran from December 14 through December 28. This year, for the first time in 27 years, the annual Holiday House Tour was unable to take place due to the pandemic. With the goal of giving the community an activity that was fun and also allowed people to get out of their homes and walk or drive around, the Deck the Door Contest was created.
Twenty four Chestnut Hill homes and businesses entered the contest agreeing to decorate their doors and the surrounding three feet for the December holiday of their choice. Starting on Dec. 14, more than 60 households cast their votes. The winners in the categories – most creative, most beautiful, and most fun were chosen based on the number of votes they received. The winners received gift baskets, created by Lynn Schroeder, CHCA board member, full of Chestnut Hill area items and a gift card to be used at any Chestnut Hill business or restaurant. All participants were also entered into a raffle for a gift basket – congratulations to James McAndrews for winning the raffle
The feedback was so positive that the CHCA hopes to make this an annual event. The event was sponsored by Merrill Lynch - Nottingham, Walsh, Goodman & Associates along with media sponsor – the Chestnut Hill Local.
