Clover Market to return on Sunday

Chestnut Hill’s semiannual Clover Market is returning Sunday, April 10, one day after the return of the neighborhood’s popular Second Saturdays event.

The Clover Market will feature a whole new slew of vendors selling goods such as crafts, antiques, furniture and clothing. There are slated to be about 90 vendors in total, according to Janet Long, the event’s organizer.

Long, who describes the event as “a curated pop up market,” said it will offer shoppers “a chance to really support local independent businesses and small artists and creators who make a living selling and creating.”

The market will be held inside of the Chestnut Hill Parking Foundation’s turquoise lot at 25 W. Highland Ave., which is just a few steps away from the intersection of Germantown and Highland avenues. It runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Food trucks and crafts for kids will also be on hand.

“I like to have that mix of handmade goods and crafts together,” Long said. “It’s not just a craft show. It has a mix of vendors making handmade products like jewelry, candles, soaps, clothing, and original art.”

The name for the event comes from its tagline, “Lucky Finds For the Home.”

“It’s the idea of a unique one-of-a-kind find, and that’s what we’re all about,” Long said. “If you find a four leaf clover, it's really special and that’s what we try to do with the market.”

Long said the event is put on in conjunction with the Chestnut Hill Business Association, which runs the Second Saturdays series.

“Although it's an independent market, the business district helps,” she said. “It's done with their blessing.”

The April 9 Second Saturdays event will be the Chestnut Hill Business Association’s first of seven such events of the year. Second Saturdays in Chestnut Hill will feature live music, live dance performances and more locally produced art.
