If you weren’t aware, this upcoming Monday is an important day. Oct. 21 is the registration deadline for voting in Pennsylvania in the Nov. 5 election. Elections are a vitally important part of our democracy so if you aren’t registered to vote already, be sure to do so here. Not only can you vote for our next president in an influential swing state, but you can also choose local officials who can enact change in our community. Make your voice heard this November!
In the meantime, let’s focus on some interesting local stories. Fiesta Pizza III has officially shut its doors, spurring locals to look back on their fond memories of the beloved establishment, and a row of comedic lawn signs have been placed along Cresheim Valley Drive to shame litterers.

- The Chestnut Hill Local and the Chestnut Hill Community Association are sponsoring a trivia night on Wednesday, Oct. 23! Bring a group of friends to the Chestnut Hill Brewing Co. from 7 to 9 p.m. to test your trivia knowledge and battle it out for prizes.

- The Philadelphia Streets Department will be having a special presentation on the upcoming Cherokee St. bridge project at the CHCA Board of Directors Meeting. The meeting will be held next Thursday, Oct. 24 at 7 p.m. at Springside Chestnut Hill Academy’s Haber Room.

Thursday, Oct. 17:
- Scavenger Hunt & Costume Dance Party: 5 p.m., Morris Arboretum & Gardens, 100 East Northwestern Ave.
- Let the little ones loose for a fun scavenger hunt while checking out the scarecrow walk. Then bust a move at a costume dance party. $30 per car, so bring as many friends and family that will safely fit.
Saturday, Oct. 19:
- Philly Tuft Pop-Up: 12-3 p.m., Multiverse, 8026 Germantown Ave.
- Denise Leach celebrates pop culture and fandom with unique tufted rugs from her company Philly Tuft.
Tuesday, Oct. 22:
- Trick or Treat Bag Craft: 5:30 p.m., Morris Arboretum & Gardens, 100 East Northwestern Ave.
- Make a sustainable plant-themed trick-or-treat bag using eco-printing techniques that will be just right for carrying around candy or using year-round. Registration is required. $15 per bag.
- The Red Cross and You: 5 p.m., Chestnut Hill Library, 8711 Germantown Ave.
- Learn about the history and services provided by the Red Cross, how you can schedule a free smoke alarm installation, emergency preparedness tips, and how you can get involved. Free giveaway items.
