The following crime report is for crimes reported in Chestnut Hill and Mt. Airy for the period from Sept. 5-19. 

Chestnut Hill

Sept. 5 Theft from motor vehicle. A complainant reported witnessing her car being broken into while parked near the Wissahickon Trail parking lot on Valley Green Road. A wallet, identification and credit cards were stolen. 

Sept. 7 Robbery. A complainant reported being robbed at gunpoint for her car in a parking lot on the 7600 block of Crittenden Street by two males. The males fled in the car, where it was involved in a minor traffic accident on 100 block of Lauriston Street in Manayunk. The car operator fled on foot, but was eventually arrested after a short pursuit. 

Sept. 7 Theft from motor vehicle. A complainant reported witnessing their car being broken into while parked near the Wissahickon Trail parking lot on Valley Green Road. A vape was stolen. 

Sept. 12 Destruction of property. A complainant reported that their car was broken into. Papers had been thrown around on the inside and the windshield was broken, but nothing was stolen. 

Sept. 13 Theft from motor vehicle. A complainant reported having his car broken into while parked near the Wissahickon Trail parking lot on Valley Green Road. Cash was stolen. 

Sept. 14 Theft from motor vehicle. A complainant reported having his car broken into while parked near the Wissahickon Trail parking lot on Valley Green Road. Cash and a wallet were stolen. 

Sept. 14 Theft from motor vehicle. A complainant reported having his car broken into while parked near the Wissahickon Trail parking lot on Northwestern Avenue. A bag was stolen. 

Sept. 14 Theft from motor vehicle. A complainant reported having his car broken into while parked near the Wissahickon Trail parking lot on Valley Green Road. Credit cards and a wallet was stolen. 

Sept. 14 Theft from motor vehicle. A complainant reported having his car broken into while parked near the Wissahickon Trail parking lot on Valley Green Road. Credit cards were stolen. 

Sept. 14 Theft from motor vehicle. A complainant reported credit cards and an iPhone being stolen out of her car, which was parked on the 8100 block of Roanoke Street. The car window was smashed.

Sept. 16 Burglary. An employee at Baker Street Bread, located on the 8000 block of Germantown Avenue, reported that someone entered the store and stole money from the register.

Sept. 17 Shoplifting. A complainant reported that multiple offenders entered the Fresh Market on the 8200 block of Germantown Avenue and took several items, including orange juice, without paying. 

Mt. Airy 

Sept. 5 Theft. A complainant, a tractor-trailer driver delivering cigarettes to the Wawa on the 7200 block of Germantown Avenue, reported that four men stole eight boxes of cigarettes off his truck worth approximately $3,500.

Sept. 5 Theft of motor vehicle. A complainant had her car stolen while loading groceries from the Acme located on the 7700 block of Crittenden Street. The vehicle was left running with the keys inside.

Sept. 6  Theft of motor vehicle parts. A complainant noticed pieces of their bumper panel missing. The vehicle, which was parked on the 200 block of West Upsal Street, was not in any known recent accidents. 

Sept. 7 Theft of motor vehicle parts. A catalytic converter was stolen off a car parked on the 6700 block of Musgrave Street.

Sept. 7 Theft of motor vehicle parts. A catalytic converter was stolen off a car parked on the 200 block of Montana Street.

Sept. 7 Burglary. A complainant returned to his home, located on the 6700 block of Musgrave Street, to find that his house had been rummaged through. Money, a birth certificate, bags and jewelry were stolen. 

Sept. 7 Theft of motor vehicle parts. A catalytic converter was stolen off a car parked on the 6900 block of Ardleigh Street.

Sept. 8 Theft. A complainant had her kitten stolen from the 200 block of East Johnson Street. 

Sept. 8 Theft from motor vehicle. A complainant reported an iPad being stolen out of his car, which was parked on the 600 block of West Hortter Street. The car window was smashed.

Sept. 8 Theft. A complainant reported his bike being stolen off his porch, which is on the unit block of West Weaver Street. 

Sept. 8 Theft of motor vehicle parts. A catalytic converter was stolen off a car parked on the 500 block of Arbutus Street.

Sept. 8 Theft of motor vehicle parts. A catalytic converter was stolen off a car parked on the 200 block of Durard Street.

Sept. 9 Aggravated assault. A complainant was shot in the back while walking his dog. The victim was transported by a medic to Albert Einstein Medical Center where he is currently in stable condition. 

Sept. 9 Motor vehicle theft. A complainant reported their vehicle going missing from a parking lot on the 7100 block of Devon Street.

Sept. 9 Motor vehicle theft. A complainant reported their vehicle going missing from a parking lot on the 200 block of West Upsal Street.

Sept. 10 Motor vehicle theft. A complainant reported that she saw her vehicle being towed away from a parking lot she parked her car in on the 6300 block of Crittenden Street.

Sept. 11 Theft of motor vehicle parts. A catalytic converter was stolen off a car parked on the 500 block of Brinton Street.

Sept. 11 Theft from motor vehicle. A couple returned to their car to find the hatch open and $10 in change missing. 

Sept. 12 Theft from motor vehicle. A complainant reported tools being stolen out of his car, which was parked on the 200 block of West Johnson Street. The car window was smashed.

Sept. 13 Theft of motor vehicle parts. A complainant reported the catalytic converter being stolen from their car on the unit block of Gowen Circle. 

Sept. 13 Theft. A complainant reported two bikes being stolen from their yard, located on the 600 block of West Johnson Street.

Sept. 13 Robbery. An Amazon delivery driver was robbed of his wallet at gunpoint on the 300 block of East Sharpnack Street. The wallet contained $700. 

Sept. 13 Theft of motor vehicle parts. A catalytic converter was stolen off a car parked on the 1000 block of West Upsal Street.

Sept. 13 Motor vehicle theft. A complainant reported their car missing from where they parked it, on the 300 block of East Upsal Street. 

Sept. 13 Burglary. A complainant returned to his home on the 200 block of East Upsal Street to find clothes thrown around his apartment and $170 taken.

Sept. 13 Theft. A complainant reported two bikes being stolen from his property on the 600 block of West Johnson Street.

Sept. 14 Theft from motor vehicle. A complainant reported a wallet being stolen out of his car, which was parked on the 6500 block of Park Line Drive. The car window was smashed.

Sept. 15 Shoplifting. A complainant reported that multiple offenders entered a food store on the 6700 block of Sprague Street and took chips and sodas without paying. 

Sept. 16 Burglary. A complainant returned to his home to find his gate was open and someone had rummaged through his home. Shoes and an XBox were stolen. 

Sept. 16 Theft from motor vehicle. A complainant reported having his car broken into while parked near the Wissahickon Trail parking lot on Kitchens Lane. A laptop and a wallet were stolen. 

Sept. 17 Theft from motor vehicle. A complainant reported a purse containing credit cards being stolen out of her car, which was parked by the Wissahickon Trail entrance by Park Line Drive and West Hortter Street. The car window was smashed.

Sept. 18 Shoplifting. A complainant reported that an offender entered the Acme on the 7000 block of Germantown Avenue and took beer without paying. 

Sept. 18 Theft. A complainant reported that under court order, she went to another residence to retrieve belongings, but many of the belongings, including $2,000 worth of clothes, a dresser and an iPhone were missing. 

Sept. 18 Theft of motor vehicle parts. A license plate was stolen off a car parked on the 7000 block of Marion Lane.

Sept. 18 Burglary. A complainant reportedly witnessed a male enter a property on the 6600 block of Germantown Avenue for at least one minute. Then he heard the male yell that the police were coming and witnessed him flee. Nothing was taken.

Sept. 18 Burglary. An employee at Malelani Cafe, located on the 6700 block of Germantown Avenue, reported that someone entered the store by breaking the glass door and stole $150 from the register.

Sept. 18 Burglary. A complainant returned to his home on the 200 block of East Upsal Street to find $100 worth of clothes stolen from her daughter’s room in her apartment.

Sept. 19 Robbery. A complainant reported that an offender awoke him while he was sleeping in his car, which was parked on the unit block of West Sedgwick Street, while pointing a gun at him. A struggle then ensued between the two parties and the complainant was stabbed in the leg as a result. The complainant drove himself to Chestnut Hill Hospital and is in stable condition.
