The following is for crimes reported in Chestnut Hill and Mt. Airy for the period from July 1 to July 7. (Some crimes that occurred on dates earlier than the current period but weren’t reported until later may be included.)
Chestnut Hill
June 15. Theft. A complainant in the 100 block of East Evergreen Avenue. reported to police that he had completed a contracting job for an offender who was supposed to pay $650, but only paid $250.
June 30. Motor vehicle theft. A man in the 700 block of Wolcott Drive told police that his 2017 Triumph Motors motorcycle was taken without his knowledge or permission.
July 1. Shoplifting. An employee of Acme market in the 7700 block of Crittenden Street told the police that an offender came into the store and took food items without paying for them.
July 1. Vandalism. A woman in the 200 block of East Willow Grove Avenue reported that an offender broke her rear passenger side window and damaged the steering column of her Hyundai.
July 1. Motor vehicle theft. An off duty police officer at Chestnut Hill Village in the 7700 block of Stenton Avenue reported that he heard his car alarm go off, went outside and saw his vehicle being driven off the parking lot. A police badge and baseball equipment were inside the vehicle.
July 2. Shoplifting. An employee at the Acme Market in the 7700 block of Crittenden Street reported to police that multiple suspects concealed items in bags and attempted to leave the store without paying, but the manager recovered the items.
July 3. A woman told police she was dining at Iron Hill Brewery in the 8400 block of Germantown Avenue when someone took items from her handbag, and later, her debit cards were used for unauthorized transactions.
July 3. Motor vehicle theft. A complainant parked their car in the 7600 block of Ardleigh Street while they were on vacation and when their returned Kia Soul was missing.
July 4. Theft from motor vehicle. Complaint No. 1 told police that she went on a bike ride near West Northwestern Avenue and Oak Road and when she returned her passenger window was broken and her purse was missing. Complainant No. 2 reported that an offender broke into her vehicle and took a cell phone, pocketbooks, identification and debit cards.
July 4. Shoplifting An offender entered the Acme market in the 7700 block of Crittenden Street, took several items and fled in a Black SUV.
July 4. Burglary, vandalism, weapons violations. Complainant in the 400 block of West Moreland Avenue told police he observed broken glass on his floor and noticed a bullet hole in his living room window and a fragment of a bullet in the corner of the room.
July 7. Shoplifting. An offender entered the CVS in the 7700 block of Germantown Avenue and took deodorant and refreshments without paying for them.
Mt. Airy
May 3. Shoplifting. Several offenders took food and drinks from the Wawa in the 7200 block of Germantown Avenue and didn’t pay for them.
June 2. Motor vehicle theft. A man told police he left his dirt bike chained in a driveway in the 200 block of Pelham Road and when he returned to the location the bike chain was cut and the bike was missing.
June 26. Theft. A woman told police that $100 was missing from her apartment in the 500 block of West Hortter Street.
June 27. Vandalism and motor vehicle theft. A woman in the 500 block of Glen Echo Road told police that her vehicle was broken into, steering column broken and papers scattered.
June 28. Theft. A woman in the 300 block of East Mt. Airy Ave. reported that she ordered an iPhone on Amazon and was alerted that the package had arrived but when she went to pick it up, the phone was missing.
July 1. Shoplifting. A CVS employee at a store in the 7000 block of Lincoln Drive reported that a man placed body washes in a bag and left without paying for them.
July 1. Shoplifting. An offender entered the Acme market in the 7000 block of Germantown Avenue, took Taylor port wine and left without paying for it.
July 1. Shoplifting. An offender at the CVS employee in the 7000 block of Lincoln Drive took cosmetics and medicine left without paying for them.
July 2. Theft. A complainant shopping at the Wawa told police she placed her identification and debit cards somewhere inside the store in the 7200 block of Germantown Avenue and an offender took both.
July 2. Shoplifting. An employee at the Acme Market in the 7000 block of Germantown Avenue reported that four people attempted to exit the store with a cartful of groceries without paying for them, but as soon as someone confronted one of the men, the items were returned.
July 2. Theft. Complainant in the 200 block of Garrett Street told police that he heard a male inside his house and when he woke up, the complainant’s tools valued at $30,000 were missing.
July 3. Theft. A man in the 500 block of Pelham Road told police he parked his vehicle at the location and when his wife returned, the car was missing and a stranger was trying to use his credit cards.
July 4. Shoplifting. Offenders took snacks from the Wawa in the 7200 block of Germantown Avenue without paying for them.
July 4. Motor vehicle theft. A complainant who was housesitting in the 300 block of East Mt. Airy Avenue told police that when he came out in the morning, his car was gone.
July 4. Shoplifting. An offender took water, chips and a snack wrap, from the Wawa in the 7200 block of Germantown Avenue without paying for them.
July 4. Theft from motor vehicle. A complainant reported that an offender broke into the passenger side of their vehicle in the 1000 block of West Upsal Street and took identification and credit cards.
July 4. An offender came into the CVS in the 7700 block of Lincoln Drive and took items including Listerine mouthwash and left without paying.
July 4. Offender took bottles of alcohol from the Acme market in the 7000 block of Germantown and didn’t pay for them.
July 5. Burglary. Complainant heard someone in the basement in the unit block of West Mt. Airy Avenue and saw a shadow from the door leading to the first floor. Police observed the offender who was taken into custody.
July 6. Theft. A woman told police she parked her vehicle in the 7800 block of Devon Street, and later heard her alarm sound. When she got to the car, a driver's side window and ignition were broken.
July 6. Theft. A woman parked her car near White Trail and Kitchens Lane and when she returned the passenger side window was broken and a purse, identification and credit cards were missing from the car.
July 7. Burglary. A complainant in the 500 block of East Johnson Street said tenants had moved out of the residence and her daughter went to check the location to retrieve an air conditioner. When she opened the closet door, an unknown male was inside and ran out through the back door
