Crime Report: 3 stolen cars

The following crime report is for crimes reported in Chestnut Hill and Mt. Aity from Nov. 16 to Nov. 22. 

Chestnut Hill

Nov. 13 Theft of vehicle. 8800 Germantown Ave. A man told police he rented a Mitsubishi Eclipse from Enterprise. He said he was feeling sick and had two people drop him off. That was the last time he saw the car. The police report did not indicate any relationship between the complainant or the two people who dropped him off. Car valued at $12,000.

Nov. 16 Theft from vehicle, unit block of E. Chestnut Hill Avenue. A woman told police she returned to her parked car at the location and found someone had taken loose change, an IKEA shopping back and a USB drive from it.

Nov. 16 Theft from vehicle, 100 block of Hilltop Rd. A woman told police that someone entered her vehicle and took the following: Abington Hospital ID, prescription sunglasses and a turquoise jacket.

 Mt. Airy

Nov. 16 Theft from vehicle, 1000 block of W Cliveden St. Owner of a Toyota Prius found her car missing its catalytic converter. The part is worth approximately $1,000.

Nov. 17. Retail theft from Wawa, 7726 Germantown Ave. Store employees said a man entered the store and took 40 cans of Red Bull worth $120. The man loaded them in a white Hyundai Sonata and fled southbound on Germantown Avenue.

Nov. 18 Stolen vehicle on the 600 block of W. Cliveden St. A woman told police she parked her car in the driveway. When she woke up in the morning, her car, a Honda Passport, was gone.

Nov. 18 Stolen vehicle on the 400 block of W. Upsal Street. A woman said she parked her car across the street from her home. When she returned to her car, a Ford Fusion, it was gone.

Nov. 20  Breaking into vehicle on the 100 block of E. Durham St. A man said he was watching television on the first floor of his home when he heard noises coming from his driveway. He went outside and saw someone in the driver's seat of his car. The man said the person in his car shouted “Police” before fleeing.  The homeowner chased the man and got into an altercation with him in the street. Offender escaped.

Nov. 20 Theft of bicycle on the 7200 block of Howard Terrace. A woman told police that someone took her Schwinn bike from the front of her house.
