Crime Report: 7 thefts from vehicles, 2 stolen cars

The following crime report is for crimes reported in Chestnut Hill and Mt. Airy for the two-week period between June 7 to June 13. Some dates earlier than the current period took place at that date and reported after the fact.

Chestnut Hill

June 7 Theft on the 400 block of E. Abington Ave. Complainant reported a $300 mirror missing from the lobby of a residence building. She told police she believed it was taken by a former employee. Northwest Detectives is investigating.

June 7 Theft from vehicle on the 8600 block of Germantown Ave. A complainant heard their vehicle alarm sound at 2:38 a.m. Later discovered that their right passenger side window was smashed. Taken from the car were a Tom Tom GPS device and a box of tissues.

June 8 Theft from vehicle at Northwestern Ave. and Stenton Ave. Complainant found both windows broken on his vehicle and several credit cards taken from his wallet, which was in the car.

June 8 Theft from vehicle at Valley Green. A man reported that someone broke his passenger side window and took the following items: credit cards, a N.J. firearms ID and a pair of RayBan sunglasses.

June 12 Theft from vehicle on the 500 block of W. Willow Grove Ave. A man told police he left a window open on his vehicle. Someone entered and took a black purse containing ID, Social Security card, debit cards, prescription medications and housekeys, and a second purse containing credit cards, driver's license, credit and debit cards. Also taken were an iPhone 12, a work bag, various tools and binders.

Mt. Airy

June 8  Retail theft at Acme Market, 7010 Germantown Ave. Store employees reported a man taking items past point of sale without paying for them.

June 8 Theft from vehicle on the 1000 block of Kitchens Lane.  A man reported that the driver-side front window of his car was smashed and someone removed credit cards and cash from his glove box. One of the cards was used at a CVS.

June 8 Stolen car on the 200 block of E. Sedgwick St. A man delivering groceries reported that he left his keys in the car during a delivery and three young people jumped in his car and drove off.

June 8 Retail theft and assault at Acme Market, 7010 Germantown Ave. A complainant witnessed a man taking items at the store. When confronted, the man beat the complainant multiple times and pushed her to the floor.

June 9 Theft from vehicle on Kitchens Lane in Wissahickon Park. A person reported that their driver-side window was smashed and credit cards were missing. One of the cards was used at CVS.

June 10 Stolen car on the 300 block of W. Mount Pleasant St.  A man told police that while he was delivering food, someone entered his car and drove off.

June 12 Theft on the unit block of Westview Ave. A man told police he left his bike on his front porch. When he woke up, the bike was gone.

June 13 Theft from vehicle on the 6500 block of Parkline Dr. A woman reported that someone broke the rear passenger side window of her car and stole a bag containing bank and credit cards. One of the cards was used at a CVS.
