Crime Report: Assault and robbery, car stolen from Wawa parking lot

The following crime report is for crimes reported in Chestnut Hill and Mt. Airy for the period between April 19 to April 25. Some dates earlier than the current period took place at that date and reported after the fact.

Chestnut Hill

April 21 Theft from vehicle, 100 block of W. Northwestern Ave. A woman parked her car in the early evening and returned to find the rear driver side window broken and a black purse containing a wallet, $100 in cash, credit cards and ID. Total value of cash, wallet and purse was estimated at $300.

April 22 Theft from vehicle on the unit block of W. Bells Mill Rd. A woman left her car at the location to walk in the park. When she returned, she found her rear driver side window smashed and her iPhone 11 and wallet containing $150 in cash, ID and credit cards stolen. She was later alerted to a fraudulent purchase attempt made with one of her credit cards.  

April 23 Theft from vehicle at Valley Green. A woman parked her car to use the park and returned to find her rear driver side window smashed. Taken was a black Coach bag worth $200 that contained various ID and credit cards.

April 23 Theft on the 7800 block of Stenton Ave. A man gave someone he knows the key to his apartment before leaving for one month. When he returned, he found $25,000 worth of property gone. Taken were: gold coins, titles to cars, keys, a coin collection, watches, jewelry, medicine and artwork.

Mt. Airy

April 19 Stolen car on the 7200 block of Germantown Ave. A man left his 2005 silver Toyota Camry running at the Mt. Airy Wawa while he went inside. When he returned, the car was gone.

April 21 Robbery and simple assault on the 300 block of E. Upsal St. A woman returned home when she was attacked by an intruder who punched her repeatedly in the face. The offender took the woman’s iPhone XR. The victim suffered injuries including scratch marks to her left arm and face. She was taken to the emergency room and was in stable condition.

April 21 Theft from vehicle, 1000 block of Kitchen’s Lane. A man had his truck parked at the location and found his rear driver side window broken and his wallet containing ID credit and debit cards stolen.

April 22 Theft on the 6700 block of Emlen St. A resident said someone stole a Ring security camera from his apartment door.

April 23 Retail theft, 7000 block of Lincoln Dr. an employee saw a man take 12 bottles ($300 worth) of Ensure and flee the store without paying for them.

April  24 Stolen vehicle on the 300 block of  W. Durham St.  A man brought to his home a woman he only knew by her first name. He told police they spent the evening drinking. When he woke up both the woman and his car, a blue, 2008 Lexus, were gone.

April 25 Theft from vehicle on the 400 block of Carpenter Lane. A man parked his car overnight at the location and woke to find his front passenger side window smashed. Taken from his car was a $500 Google watch and a wallet containing ID and credit cards.

April 25 Retail theft at Acme, 7010 Germantown Ave. A man and woman entered the Acme and placed numerous items including beer, shampoo, laundry detergent, produce, poultry and various snack items worth $ 659 into a grocery cart. The man left the store without paying but was apprehended by police as he waited for a bus at a nearby bus stop.
