The following crime report is for crimes reported in Chestnut Hill and Mt. Airy for the two-week period between August 16 and August 23. Some dates earlier than the current period took place at that date and reported after the fact.

The following crime report is for crimes reported in Chestnut Hill and Mt. Airy for the two-week period between August 16 and August 23. Some dates earlier than the current period took place at that date and reported after the fact.

Chestnut Hill

Aug 14 Aggravated Assault. A customer reported the manager of a store in the 8500 block of Germantown Ave. pushed him over, resulting in three broken ribs and an injured leg.

Aug 18 Theft. While working at a restaurant in the 8200 block of Germantown Ave., an employee’s wallet was stolen from her bag. Estimated value $30.

Aug 18 Theft. While working at a restaurant in the 8200 block of Germantown Ave., an employee took two of her credit cards and charged items.

Aug 18 Theft from auto. A woman returned from a trail walk to her car parked at Bells Mills Road and Germantown Ave. to find items valued at $700 were missing. Rear driver-side window was secured with Velcro, which the perpetrators unsealed.

Aug 18 Theft from auto. A woman returned from Wissahickon Park to her car parked at W. Chestnut Hill and Seminole Aves. to find the driver-side rear window broken and a purse missing, containing a wallet, sunglasses valued at $600, cards and $300 in cash. Cards were used for purchases at various nearby stores. Total estimated value: $4424.15

Aug 19 Aggravated assault. A doctor in a hospital in the 8800 block of Germantown Ave. reported a patient struck him while he was treating her.

Aug 20 Aggravated assault. Three police officers at Cresheim Rd. and Carpenter Lane were fired upon by the occupant of a car later identified as stolen. No one was injured.

Mt. Airy

Aug 7 Auto theft. A man had a flat tire on his work van and parked in the rear of an apartment complex on the 300 block of E. Upsal. When he returned he learned the van had been towed. There was no record of the van with any towing services.

Aug 14 Theft. A construction site was robbed of electrical wiring valued at $4,000 in the second block of W. Phil-Ellena Street.

Aug 16 Theft from auto. A woman returned from Wissahickon Park to her car parked at 1000 Kitchens Lane to find a window broken and a purse missing, containing an iPhone and cards. Cards were used to purchase $700 in gift cards at a nearby pharmacy.

Aug 16 Theft. A man reported he left his phone on the paper towel holder in the bathroom of a store in the 20 block of W. Hortter. It was gone when he returned.

Aug 17 Aggravated Assault. A woman reported the driver of the car in front of her on Germantown Ave. at Allens Lane stopped his car and threatened her for tailgating him. He was holding a gun in one hand, though he did not point it at her. He countered that it was a 25 mph zone and she was too close.

Aug 18 Aggravated assault. A man was shot in the 6700 block of Musgrave St. He later died of his injuries.

Aug 18 Theft from auto. A woman returned to her car parked at W. Hortter and Park Line Drive to find a window broken and a purse missing, containing cards and an estimated $50 in cash.

Aug 18 Bicycle theft. Two bicycles were stolen from a porch on the 300 block of E. Sharpnack by two men, recorded on video. The chain was cut. Estimated value $240.

Aug 18 Theft from auto. A woman parked at 8000 St. Martins Lane reported she returned to find her car window broken, but nothing was taken.

Aug 19 Theft from auto. A woman returned from Wissahickon Park to her car parked in the 1100 block of Livezey Lane to find her driver-side rear window broken and items missing.

Aug 20 Theft from auto. A catalytic converter was stolen off a parked car in the 500 block of Roumfort Rd.

Aug 20 Theft from auto. A man returned from Wissahickon Park to his car parked in the 60 block of Valley Green Rd. to find the rear right window broken and a bookbag missing, containing keys, ear pods, clothing, and a wallet containing $5 cash and multiple cards.

Aug 20 Theft. An Amazon package was stolen from a porch in the 6000 block of Avonhoe Rd. Estimated value $40.

Aug 21 Auto theft. Two juveniles approached a man as he was parking in the 7200 block of Germantown Ave. asked for assistance. The man exited his car but left it running. After a brief struggle, the juveniles left in his car.

Aug 22 Theft from auto. A woman returned to her car parked in the 60 block of Valley Green Rd. to find the rear right window broken and a tan leather bag missing, containing multiple cards.
