The following crime report is for crimes reported in Chestnut Hill and Mt. Airy for the two-week period August 8 to August 16. Some dates earlier than the current period took place at that date and reported after the fact.

Chestnut Hill

Aug 9 Theft from auto. Catalytic converter stolen from a car parked on the 100 block of W. Highland Ave.

Aug 12 Burglary. A pharmacy in the 7700 block of Crittenden St. was broken into through the glass front door. The registers were rifled. Estimated $200 was taken, and $3000 damage to the door.

Aug 14 Theft. A shoplifter took items valued at $151.52 from a pharmacy in the 7700 block of Germantown Ave.

Aug 15 Aggravated Assault. A man was beaten with a golf club in the 8800 block of Germantown Ave. He was hospitalized for treatment.

Mt. Airy

April 24 Theft. A man hired a contractor to restore his deck in the 700 block of E. Pelham, but the contractor disappeared with the $900 deposit.

June 5 Theft. A UPS delivery in the 200 block of E. Phil Ellena was stolen upon delivery. Laptop valued at $350 was taken.

Aug 6 Theft. An Amazon delivery at an apartment complex in the 6600 block of McCallum St. was stolen upon delivery. Items valued at $280 were taken.

Aug 8 Assault. An argument in a restaurant at W. Mt. Airy and Germantown Aves. And continued outside, where the assailant assaulted the woman. He was arrested. The woman was transported to a hospital for treatment of her facial injuries.

Aug 10 Theft from auto. Catalyic converter stolen from a car parked on the 400 block of E. Mt. Airy Ave.

Aug 11 Theft from auto. A man reported items were taken from his car parked in the 7100 block of Crittenden St. He did not know if he had left the car unlocked. Items taken included a black bag, clothing, and medication.

Aug 11 Theft. A man shoplifted cleaning supplies from a supermarket on the 7000 block of Germantown Ave. Estimated value $200.

Aug 12 Aggravated Assault. An assailant tried to stab an employee in a convenience store in the 7200 block of Germantown Ave. The assailant was arrested.

Aug 12 Theft from auto. A woman parked on the 800 block of Wolcott Drive and went for a jog in Wissahickon Valley Park. When she returned to her car, her front passenger window was broken and a bag left in the front seat, containing her wallet and credit and debit cards, was missing.

Aug 12 Theft. A man was at a medical appointment in the 6600 block of Germantown Ave. when he noticed $150 missing from his wallet.

Aug 13 Theft from auto. The front passenger window was broken on a car parked in the 7200 block of Howard Terrace. Various cables and chargers, valued at $1000.

Aug 13 Burglary. A man broke into an apartment in the 7100 block of Germantown Ave.  

Aug 14 Theft from auto. A woman parked on the 1000 block of W. Hortter St. When she returned to her car, her front passenger window was broken and a purse containing keys, credit and debit cards, was missing.

Aug 14 Theft from auto. A woman parked at White Trail and Kitchens Lane. When she returned to her car, her front passenger window was broken and her wallet missing. The wallet was later recovered at Lincoln Drive and Durham St.

Aug 15 Sexual Assault. An assailant forced a woman sexual acts in his apartment in the 7100 block of Germantown Ave.

Aug 15 Theft from auto. The rear passenger-side window was broken in car parked in the 100 block of E. Mt. Airy Ave. A fishing pole and other items were taken, estimated value $200.
