Crime Report: Homes burglarized in Chestnut Hill, Mt. Airy

The following crime report is for crimes reported in Chestnut Hill and Mt. Airy from Nov. 30 to Dec.6. Some reports are prior to the date range and were reported after the fact.

Nov. 15 Burglary 7700 block of Ardleigh St. A woman told police that she came home to find her front door lock broken and her home entered. She discovered several rings including her wedding band stolen. Stolen jewelry is worth approximately $25,000.

Dec. 1  Theft from vehicle, 400 block of W. Willow Grove Ave. A woman told police that she left her purse on the front seat of her vehicle and left the vehicle unlocked. When she returned her purse was gone. It contained a wallet, credit cards, ID, house and car keys.

Mt. Airy

Dec. 3 Burglary on the 400 block of E. Sedgwick St. A man was alerted by his security system of a break in at his home. He returned and found a broken window at the rear of the property. A man wearing a white mask was in his home and had taken approximately $20,000 in jewelry. The man escaped.

Dec. 3  Burglary on the 300 block of E. Sedgwick St. A woman found her apartment had been broken into and her belongings ransacked. She told police she had not spent the night at home when the incident occurred. Taken was about $500 worth of jewelry.

Dec. 4  Burglary on the 400 block of E. Mt. Pleasant Ave.  A man told police that he found his first-floor window open and several items missing from his home: A backpack, a black jacket, 3 sets of car keys and a bottle of gin. The man told police he and his wife were home at the time but did not hear anyone enter or walk around the house.

Dec. 4 Assault and robbery on 7100 block of Ardleigh St. A man told police he was approached by three men who asked him if he had a dollar. After the man showed the men his wallet was empty the three men attacked him. He escaped after receiving several blows to his head and face. He called 911, but the men caught up with him and stole his phone. Taken was an iPhone 6 worth approximately $800.
