The following crime report is for crimes reported in Chestnut Hill and Mt. Airy for the two-week period from October 18 to October 25. There were 13 Thefts from Autos and 3 Stolen Vehicles during this period.

Crime Report October 18-25, 2021

The following crime report is for crimes reported in Chestnut Hill and Mt. Airy for the two-week period from October 18 to October 25. Some dates earlier than the current period took place at that date and reported after the fact.

Chestnut Hill

Sept 27 Theft. A woman was notified that a prescription was delivered to her residence in the 8600 block of Germantown Ave., but it was not there.

Oct 15 Theft from Auto. The window was broken on a car parked between on W. Highland Ave. between Germantown Ave. and Shawnee St.  Missing items included a cane and CDs.

Oct 22 Theft. A shoplifter removed $200 worth of beauty and detergent products from a pharmacy in the 7700 block of Germantown Ave. Video was obtained.

Mt. Airy

June 1 Lost gun. At a residence in the 6500 block of Belfield Ave., a man removed his gun from his safe, intending to go to the gun range, then left it on a table in the living room. Other people have been in the residence since then and might have moved it or removed it.

Oct 14 Theft. A man stated he had friends over to his residence in the 400 block of Vernon Rd and afterward his wallet was missing. Later, his debit card was used at a convenience store. Estimated loss $3,700.

Oct 15 Burglary. While a homeowner was out of town, a window was broken at his residence in the 2—block of W. Mt. Pleasant Ave. Two watches were missing. Estimated value $6,044.60.

Oct 18 Theft from Auto. Items were removed from a car parked on the 1600 block of Middleton St., including insurance and registration cards and child custody paperwork. No sign of forced entry.

Oct 18 Theft from Auto. The front passenger window was broken on a car parked near tennis courts in the 600 block of W. Allens Lane. Items missing included a wallet, $25 cash, cards, and a vaccination card. Credit card was later used at an office supply store for purchases estimated to be $1800.

Oct 18 Theft from Auto. Items were removed from a car parked at Kitchens Lane and Wissahickon Ave., including bags and a laptop, estimated value $1,020. A card was used for additional purchases.

Oct 19 Theft from Auto. The front passenger window was broken on a car parked near an art center and tennis courts in the 600 block of W. Allens Lane. A wallet was missing containing cards, ID and $50 cash. A card was later used at a pharmacy.

Oct 19 Theft from Auto.  A woman returned to her vehicle parked on Valley Green Rd to find the fron passenger window broken and items missing, including a purse, a phone, an iPod, cards and $500 cash. Estimated value $2,000.

Oct 21 Theft from Auto. A driver accidentally left the door of his car open when parked in the 6400 block of Chew Ave. A BBQ lighter was missing, and there was damage to the dashboard. Video was obtained.

Oct 21 Auto Theft. A car was stolen from the 7000 block of Woolston Ave.

Oct 21 Auto Theft. A car was stolen from the 400 block of W Ellet St.

Oct 22 Auto Theft. A car was stolen from the 300 block of Wadsworth Ave. by three men who pulled up behind the driver while he was in the car.

Oct 23 Theft from Auto. Windows were broken on two cars parked at Valley Green Rd. and Woolcott Dr. Items taken from the first car include a wallet, glasses, cards, AirPods, and $100 cash. A purse was removed from the second car, containing cards, ID, a watch, makeup and $120 cash. Estimated total value $620.

Oct 23 Theft. A bicycle was removed from the backyard of a residence in the 400 block of E. Mt. Pleasant Ave. Estimated value $835.

Oct 23 Theft from Auto. A phone charger and EZ Pass were removed from a car parked in the 100 block of W. Durham St. 

Oct 23 Theft from Auto. The driver-side rear window was broken on a car parked at Valley Green Rd. and Woolcott Dr. Items taken include a handbag, purse and $20 cash.

Oct 24 Theft from Auto. An unlocked car parked on the 300 block of Montana St. was entered. Items taken include a PPD badge, cards and $60 cash. Video was obtained.

Oct 24 Theft from Auto. A male opened the door of a car parked at Gowen Ave. and Boyer St. and removed loose change. Video was obtained.

Oct 24 Aggravated Assault. A woman in the 5500 block of Blakemore St. awoke to find a man standing in front of her, undressing. She pushed past and ran. He fired two shots at her, but did not hit her, though she did sustain scrapes when she fell while running. The offender, a friend of her children, stated the door was open. The woman said her keys were missing.
