The following crime report is for crimes reported in Chestnut Hill and Mt. Airy for the two-week period between August 23 and August 30. Some dates earlier than the current period took place at that date and reported after the fact.
Chestnut Hill
Aug 23 Theft from auto. A woman parked her car at Seminole and W. Chestnut Hill Aves. And returned to find the front passenger window broken and the wallet she left in the car missing. Wallet contained $300 cash plus cards. The debit cards were used to withdraw money. Estimated total value $1700.
Aug 24 Theft from auto. An employee in a store at Market Square, 7700 Crittenden St., discovered the catalytic converter was removed from their vehicle.
Mt. Airy
Aug 23 Robbery. A man entered a bank in the 6700 block of Germantown Ave. and passed the teller a note demanding $250,000. The teller gave the man an unknown amount of cash. The offender was stopped by police shortly after and identified by the teller.
Aug 24 Rape. At an unknown location near Chew Ave. and Sharpnack St., a woman was raped.
Aug 24 Aggravated assault. While removing a stove from a residence in the 200 bock of W. Tulpehocken, a service man was threatened with a purported knife by the resident.
Aug 26 Burglary. A woman returned from vacation to her home in the 200 block of Montana St. t discover the back door open and her home ransacked. Missing items included Batman masks, fruit snacks, coffee cakes. Neighbors reported seeing children running from the property.
Aug 26 Aggravated assault. During an argument at her apartment in the 7100 block of E. Ardleigh St., a woman was assaulted by her boyfriend. She was treated gor neck and shoulder injuries and a small cut.
Aug 26 Theft from auto. A woman her keys stolen from her residence in the 6700 block of Chew. Subsequently, her car was used to smoke narcotics. Nothing appears to have been taken. Keys were found on the floor of the vehicle.
Aug 26 Burglary. A woman returned from vacation to her apartment in the 6300 block of Chew Ave. to discover a window open. While the apartment was ransacked, nothing appears to have been taken except two eggs in the refrigerator.
Aug 27 Theft from auto. A woman returned from a walk on the Orange Trail in the Wissahickon to discover her front passenger window broken. Airpods, sunglasses, gym clothes she left in the vehicle were missing, estimated value $450.
Aug 27 Theft from auto. Four tires were removed from a car parked in the 600 block of E. Allens Lane.
Aug 28 Theft from auto. The catalytic converter was removed from a car parked at a residence on Allens Lane between Germantown Ave. and Bryan St.
Aug 29 Theft from auto. The catalytic converter was removed from a car parked in the 300 block of E. Mt. Pleasant Ave.
Aug 30 Aggravated assault. At an apartment in the 6300 block of Greene St., a woman attacked a man during an argument, bruising him and damaging his apartment door.
