Residents and commuters will have to wait a little longer before E. Bells Mill Road is once again open to traffic.
The Streets Department had originally closed the road in July with an intended re-opening in September. But some unforeseen issues has forced work to push into October.
“The E. Bell's Mill Road closure was extended due to the unforeseen culvert repairs,” said Streets Department spokesperson Keisha McCarty Skelton. “Currently, final paving, guide rail installation and speed cushions have been installed. We anticipate the asphalt curb under the guide rail and line striping being completed within the next week or two, at that point we can re-open to traffic.”
While it’s closed, a detour will direct regular users of the road to East Hillcrest Avenue.
The Bells Mill Road work is part of a larger project, the Citywide 105 Chestnut Hill Resurfacing and ADA Ramp Project. The department said the $4.7 million project is being completed by Tony DePaul and Son Contractors.
