Francis Tomczak – In Memoriam

Posted

A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered.

Francis Tomczak, better known as Frank, served with the United States Marine Corp before dedicating the next few decades of his life to the United States Postal Service as a letter carrier. His journey began at the Port Richmond post office but he ended up working almost his entire career at the Market Square post office where he served the neighborhoods of East Mt. Airy and Chestnut Hill. Frank would then marry his wife, Denise, who also served as a letter carrier in the same office.

Frank, the "old school mailman", had a wealth of knowledge, an easy-going nature, a contagious, positive attitude and a commitment to his career that would lead him to becoming an on-the-job trainer. Many letter carriers have been through the "school of Frank", creating the next generation of proud letter carriers who serve the city today.

Frank always had a movie review, a story to tell, a dark joke to deliver, a song to sing, and a smile that would light up a room. He had a passion for sports and would always be there to help anyone in need.  Frank's legacy will live on through every carrier he trained, every customer he served, and every pet friend he had. Frank was loved by everyone! He will truly be missed.

Your memory will live forever in our hearts.

Your second family, Market Square Post Office.
