G. Love to headline May 15 Celebration of GFS 175th anniversary

Germantown Friends School has been celebrating their demisemiseptcentennial anniversary all school year with exciting virtual events showcasing alumni talents. Next Saturday, May 15, at 7 p.m., GFS will conclude their 175th festivities with a virtual party featuring headliner and Grammy nominee G. Love, GFS class of ‘91

Emceed by 6ABC’s Nydia Han, the event will highlight important moments in the school’s history and exciting announcements, as well as raise funds for scholarship. Other musical guests will include alumni jazz musicians Maya Keren ’18 and Alex Levin ’93. Admission is free, but donations are graciously appreciated. All are welcome!

Anniversary events have also included a Music Showcase featuring the Deb Callahan Band—a blues-soul group featuring GFS parents; a collaborative reading of Jungle Night by alumna Sandra Boynton ’70 and cellist Yo-Yo Ma; and ten Middle and Upper School student performances. GFS also hosted interviews with alumni throughout the year, including Kristen Welker ’94, NBC News Chief White House Correspondent; Natalie Weathers Nixon ’87, author of The Creativity Leap: Unleash Curiosity, Improvisation, and Intuition at Work; Paul Farber ’01, Director, Monument Lab; and Ben Thomas ’14, Grammy nominated producer and music entrepreneur.
