John Edward Zimmermann III

John Edward Zimmermann III  of Philadelphia, Pa died on March 8th.

John was born in Chestnut Hill in 1943 to John (Ted) and Virginia (Bobbie) Zimmermann. He attended Chestnut Hill Academy and St. George’s School in Middletown, RI, and graduated from Tufts University with a degree in Engineering. Raising two children with his then-wife Suzanne, he began his work in engineering and shortly after pursued his career in advertising. Working for several Philadelphia area advertising agencies he ultimately began his own company with his partner, Keith Fox. 

John enjoyed his many talents and interests including paddle tennis, trap shooting, sailing, and dedicating much of his time to his church, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. He also spent 19 years serving as secretary to Corinthian Yacht Club where he was a longtime member.

John is survived by his brother, Robert P. Zimmermann (Jonnilee) and his children Edward Zimmermann (Amanda), Phoebe Zimmermann and 11 grandchildren. 

A memorial service will be held at St Paul’s Episcopal Church in Chestnut Hill
on Wednesday, March 29th at 2:00p.m.
