I so enjoyed two articles in the Local this week by Len Lear. It was quite a wonderful opportunity and memorable meeting that he and his wife had with the late Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin. I wonder if the settler movement would have continued under his watch. It's always speculation as to how things would be different if this humanitarian leader had lived.

He was addressing social needs, the economy and security, not wanting war, partly because of war experiences in which he participated. Rabin was not a religious zealot who had the ideological notion that Israel is "God chosen." But the young lawyer who assassinated him did not like the Oslo Accords, which were a move toward a peaceful negotiation.

I always thought Rabin had a heart and cared about others, not like Netanyahu and Trump, who are devastatingly vindictive and cruel and only care about themselves and their money. Rabin included the Palestinians as fellow human beings in his policies.

The summer camp article was a delight. The joke was a good one. I will share it with my grandkids.
