Yes, my eyes welled with tears - quite possibly due to a mix of enormous pride, admiration, and frankly, relief.
I want to savor the moment. I want to relish what this eminently qualified jurist has just achieved and congratulate the newest addition to the U.S. Supreme Court, associate justice Ketanji Brown Jackson!
May little Black girls across the country and right here in Philadelphia feel what I feel, and know, they too, can aspire to greatness and achieve it. It is incumbent on all of us to contribute to their success, whether it is as mentors, volunteers, teachers, and more.
Let us help the next generation make their own history in their own way, using Thursday’s remarkable confirmation vote as a model of achievement and success.
