Wednesday morning, I hoped to take the 7:39 a.m. train into town for a dentist appointment. I boarded the train at the CH East terminus; the train never left the platform. At 8 a.m., the conductor announced that signals were down and service was canceled. He suggested walking to the West line; unfortunately the next CH West train departed at 8:58 a.m., nearly an hour later.
I chose to wait on Bethlehem Pike for the 51/L bus to Olney. Two busses passed headed for Erdenheim. Only one came my way and it was off duty. Its banner should have read: “SEPTA OUT-OF-SERVICE.”
