We, the East Mermaid Lane Neighbors Design Review Committed copied you on a letter sent to Jason Tucker of The Goldenberg Group.
CHCA in their recent response to The Goldenberg Group (TGG) opened the door for rezoning of the 100-102 E. Mermaid Lane property. The East Mermaid Lane Neighbors will engage in a collaborative process with all TGG, CHCA and the Chestnut Hill Conservancy working group only if TGG is willing to commit to either a reduction of density and unit count commensurate with the property's current zoning classification or to the reuse of the existing buildings as residential apartment units with ample parking for residents through the zoning variance process, not spot rezoning.
It is ironic that the CHCA, as stated in their website, "encourages a sense of community and works to improve the quality of life in Chestnut Hill." Yet the CHCA continues to support corporate interests above the quality of community life. Zoning codes and associated use classifications were established to protect residents and the quality of a neighborhood from incompatible land uses and associated negative impacts.
We implore the CHCA to support the Chestnut Hill residents and specifically the residents of the East Mermaid Lane, many of which have lived in the same house for generations. Adhere to your mission as a community association!
