What an incredible article about Yvonne Haskins and a great photograph, too (“Mt. Airy community activist, ex-cop, has unique history,” Dec. 31)! It was fascinating to read about her life, with so many things that I did not know and am now so glad to know about her. It’s so interesting after knowing someone for so many years to now learn about her background, her family, her growing up and all the positions she held as a professional, starting as a police officer. Yvonne is amazing! And how fortunate I was to start working at the Youth Employment Service with her in the early 1970s. Congratulations to her on being highlighted in the Local, and thank you for featuring Yvonne.
