The volunteer-led effort will focus on removing trash along the roadway, which runs alongside Wissahickon Creek within the park.
No experience is necessary to participate, according to organizers. The environmental organization will provide gloves, tools and instructions for volunteers, who are advised to wear sturdy footwear and long pants, and bring water.
Activities may include carrying trash bags weighing up to 20 pounds, hiking up to one mile along Lincoln Drive, and repetitive motions while collecting litter. Organizers said volunteers should work within their personal comfort levels.
Participants should meet at Historic Rittenhouse Town. Restroom facilities will be available during the event.
Registration is required through the Friends of the Wissahickon website. The organization advises that participants should check their website and social media for cancellation notices in case of heavy rain or high winds.
