We are also enjoying new partnerships with the 14th Police District, which include dedicated foot patrols on Germantown Avenue, and with the Philadelphia Parking Authority to enforce parking restrictions at street corners, improving visibility for cars and pedestrians. Pedestrian safety will also be enhanced by our project with the City of Philadelphia’s Streets and Commerce Departments to add pedestrian crosswalks at seven intersections on Germantown Avenue, as well as improved lighting between Johnson and Upsal Streets.
While we don’t advise bike riding on Germantown Avenue, bike riders to Germantown Avenue will now find more bike racks along the commercial corridor, as well as air pumps located in several of our pocket parks.
Look for new art coming to the commercial corridor in the form of street banners designed by local graphic artist Caren Goldstein. In partnership with Mural Arts Philadelphia and local property owners, we are also adding three new murals to the commercial corridor.
