The School District of Philadelphia’s first-ever School Bus Tour is now traveling around the city in two blue welcome back buses. On board is a team of street ambassadors who are providing information to students and their families about the 2021-2022 school year and helping to prepare them for a safe return to the classroom.
From August 9 through August 27, the tour hosts 31 pop-up events at churches, parks, recreation centers and four Shop Rites. At the tour stops, parents can register their children for kindergarten, sign up for parent portal, get a free backpack and school supplies and at select stops, children can obtain required immunizations.
For more information about the bus tour and for a full list of tour stops, visit philasd.org/ringthebell. The next one in northwest Philadelphia is planned for Enon Tabernacle Church at 2800 W. Cheltenham Ave on August 17.
The first day of school for the district is Tuesday, August 31.
