Six Chestnut Hill homes open doors for some holiday magic

Chestnut Hill will open its doors for a holiday house tour on Dec. 14, featuring six decorated properties and complimentary trolley service.

The annual event, organized by the Chestnut Hill Community Association, runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and includes admission to Woodmere art museum and discounts at local restaurants.

Each home will be dressed up in its holiday finest and volunteer docents will be on hand to explain the history, and the stories, behind each one. Visitors can warm up with free hot cider at Home Works Warming Station between tour stops, and no one need worry about parking, or long walks from house to house. Trolleys will provide transport along the route, and they will also be making stops at Woodmere art museum and various locations along Germantown Avenue.

“This way everyone can enjoy one of Chestnut Hill’s most popular traditions in comfort, and be able to relax and fully immerse themselves in the spirit of the season,” said CHCA Executive Director Anne McNiff.

Tickets cost $45 for CHCA members and $50 for nonmembers, with proceeds supporting community programs. The tour begins at Chestnut Hill College campus.

Local businesses including Temple Health Chestnut Hill Hospital, Bird in Hand Consignment Shop, and Russell Roofing are sponsoring the event.
