The Pennsylvania Historical & Museum Commission has awarded nearly $4 million in grants to 173 museums and historical societies across 59 counties, with several Northwest Philadelphia organizations among the recipients.

The Cultural and Historical Support Grant program, which saw a $2 million increase this year, aims to bolster Pennsylvania's historical resources by supporting general operations of eligible institutions not funded by other state programs.

The Pennsylvania Historical & Museum Commission has awarded nearly $4 million in grants to 173 museums and historical societies across 59 counties, with several Northwest Philadelphia organizations among the recipients.

The Cultural and Historical Support Grant program, which saw a $2 million increase this year, aims to bolster Pennsylvania's historical resources by supporting general operations of eligible institutions not funded by other state programs.

To qualify, museums must have an annual operating budget of more than $100,000 and at least one full-time professional staff member. Grants range from $4,000 to $62,000, based on a percentage of the organization's annual operating budget.

The increased funding is expected to significantly impact Pennsylvania's efforts to preserve and promote its rich historical heritage.

  • Cliveden of the National Trust Inc.: $20,400
  • Historic RittenhouseTown: $20,400
  • Stenton: $12,200
  • Wyck Association: $8,100
  • Historic Germantown: $6,500
  • Ebenezer Maxwell Mansion Inc.: $6,500
