Lovett Library, located at the intersection of Germantown Avenue and Sedgwick Street in Mt. Airy, will celebrate Jazz Appreciation Month with a series of in-person concerts throughout April.
April 3 at 4 p.m. – The Robin Clubby quartet
April 5 at 5 p.m. – Carlos Santiago with violinist Gabe Miller
April 10 at 6 p.m. – Composer/percussionist Doug Hirlinger and saxophonist Andrew Urbina
April 17 at 5 p.m. – The Renaissance Sextet, led by Leon Jordan Sr., will feature the music of local jazz luminaries including Jaco Pastorius, John Blake Jr., Andrew Neu and Dave Posmontier.
April 18 at 4 p.m. – Trumpeter Leon Jordan, Jr. will present “Miles on My Mind,” celebrating the music of jazz legend Miles Davis.
April 19 at 5 p.m. – “Jazz Student Jam.” High school students and guest House Band with Chris Coyle, bassist and coordinator
April 24 at 6 p.m. – Jazz vocalist Najwa Parkins and trumpeter Fareed Simpson-Hankins.
The concerts are made possible by the Music Performance Trust Fund, the American Federation of Musicians, Local 77, and the city's Office of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy.
