Want to join our team? The Local is hiring!

Can you think of a more rewarding and impactful career than working for your community newspaper? You can? Well can you think of another one? Oh, well that’s a good one, too.

All right, all right. Enough of this. So, you’re quick on your feet. That’s great. We could really use someone with your sharp mind and intelligence here at the Local.

The Local has three open positions for which we are seeking people who love their community and want to be a part of improving their corner of the world, folks who like their neighbors and love local businesses and want to help them thrive. If that’s you, and you’re interested in becoming part of a special and dedicated group of people who are working together as a team to continue the 64 year old mainstay that is the Chestnut Hill Local, Mt. Airy Local, Wissahickon Magazine and the Explore events guide, please get in touch!

We have one opening in advertising sales. It is a full-time position, complete with salary, commission, and health benefits. If you have sales experience, we would love to talk to you. If you don’t, we’d love to talk to you anyway. If you are personable and responsible, and you have a passion for small local businesses, those are the most important traits we are looking for.

This would be a hybrid work from the office/work from home position. You would also be on the road visiting advertisers and prospects in Wyndmoor, Lafayette Hill, Flourtown, Glenside and other areas of Montgomery County. If you are interested, call John at 215.248.8817 or email john@chestnuthilllocal.com.

The second position we are hiring for is customer service coordinator. If you are hired . . . and I’m not saying you will be . . . but if you are hired, you would do some accounts receivable work and some classified advertising work – such as assisting inbound callers create effective ads and getting those ads in the paper. You would also handle subscription renewals, and do some general administrative work, such as handling the mail and answering phones.

This position is currently a part-time job at about 25 hour a week. If you are very friendly (but not tooooo friendly), detail-oriented, and have some experience with Excel, we think you could fit right in. Call John at 215.248.8817 or email john@chestnuthilllocal.com.

Lastly, we are looking for talented independent correspondents to write and report on local news and features. Does that sound like you?

While we are always interested in finding and cultivating news correspondents, we are also on the lookout for someone who can keep us informed about what’s going on in the local music scene – and we mean the kind of music you’d like to take in on a date night, for instance, not the refined musings about our classical performers that Michael Caruso already handles so well with his Noteworthy column.

If you’re interested, contact Carla@chestnuthilllocal.com or call her up at 215.248.8802.
