Here, the job title of teacher is far beyond teaching. Throughout each essay, through each math assessment, through each project, I’m challenged and supported. On the days where I wanted to give up, a teacher reminded me that’s not an option.
The great epiphany I had at AIM is so obvious in hindsight. It’s that I deserve help. I deserve to have my questions answered. I deserve to learn and I wish that was the feeling every student with a learning difference could feel.

As I leave AIM Academy, I can only hope that the remarkable support and devotion that we have received here is something more widely accessible to all who need it. We can work to make this type of education affordable for everyone. Even when the world continues to misunderstand us, we must be grateful for the education we’ve received and recognize that it is our responsibility to use it, not just for our own success, but to open doors for others.
