On Aug. 15, “Step Brothers,” the classic 2008 comedy starring Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly, will screen at 8 p.m. at Attic Brewing Company in Germantown as part of a free, public event.
The showing is one of many events hosted in Attic’s outdoor beer garden, featuring a new food truck serving hot dogs and sandwiches. Since launching the beer garden in response to the COVID-19 pandemic during Summer 2021, Laura Lacy, co-founder and co-owner with husband Todd, hosts live music, taco night with $6 drink specials and food trucks, Eagles tailgates, and the Germantown Jazz Jam. The space flourishes in fall when families return from trips to the Jersey shore and the weather cools; Lacy said peak business is in September and October.
“It’s been a slow summer for the business and we’re trying to make sure that when people are coming back from the shore, and getting ready for back to school and to come back to Philadelphia businesses, that we have some exciting and fun things on the calendar,” Lacy said.
This summer’s weather — reaching 100 degrees in June before weeks of daily rain — dampened outdoor events. But as the weather cools, Attic’s calendar fills. Bands Noggin Hill and The Levites perform on Aug. 23 and Aug. 30, respectively, and Oktoberfest barrels roll out on Sept. 27. Attic will also show “Mean Girls” on Friday, Sep 19. All movies are free, and families are welcome.
