The article ‘Local musician, ambassador for jazz’ by Len Lear is tremendous, and enhances Walter Bell's legacy as an incredible jazz musician as well as a powerful and determined human being. This article has actually inspired me in my own struggles. Regardless of how families are configured or defined, Walt had uncles who were my uncles as well, so we're like cousins. I had many of Walter Bell's CDs and made copies of them before selling my collection. Of all the flutists I've ever heard in jazz, Walter certainly ranks in the top 10 of all time.
