Thanks to our volunteers, board members, and book lovers like you, the Friends of Chestnut Hill Library Big Truck Book Sale on June 16 and 17 was a success. Readers loaded up on great deals while our Friends group raised more than $2,500 for our beloved branch Library. We signed up more than a dozen new members and even had an Elvis the Dog sighting. It was a picture-perfect weekend with a steady crowd just outside our Hilltop Books store and sorting center on Bethlehem Pike. The immediate needs at the Chestnut Hill Library include the purchase of furniture not covered by the Free Library of Philadelphia, the replacement of electrically controlled shades in the multimedia community room which are not functioning due to water damage, and the purchase of materials for the library collection and programs for all ages.
