City Councilmember Cindy Bass pushed for a proposed Mermaid Lane conservation district to get a final vote next month at yesterday's City Council hearing after the city's Planning Commission had called for a 45-day pause to allow for further discussion on the matter. According to The Philadelphia Inquirer, the district, which was created in response to the Goldenberg Group’s 2021 proposal to construct 250 housing units on the 4.4-acre 100-102 Mermaid Lane property, the former site of Chestnut Hill Friends Meeting and Blossom Philadelphia, is now on track for final approval in June.
