The following crime report is for crimes reported in Chestnut Hill and Mt. Airy for the period from Aug. 15-21. 

Chestnut Hill

Aug. 16 Theft from motor vehicle. A complainant reported having headphones and $10 in cash stolen from his vehicle after his car window was smashed. The vehicle was parked on the 7800 block of Devon Street.

Aug. 17 Theft. A car parked near the Wissahickon Trail parking lot on Valley Green Road had its window smashed. Offenders stole bank cards, an iPhone and a social security card. 

Aug. 19 Theft. A car parked near the Wissahickon Trail parking lot on Valley Green Road had its window smashed. Offenders stole bank cards, a purse, a social security card and $100 in cash. 

Mt. Airy 

Aug. 10 Motor vehicle theft. A complainant reported his vehicle, which had expired inspection stickers, was stolen from the 7500 block of Boyer Street despite not being drivable. Tow records turned up negative. 

Aug. 14 Motor vehicle theft. A complainant reported her vehicle being stolen from the 200 block of West Upsal Street.

Aug. 15 Burglary. Copper from an HVAC system was stolen from a construction site on the unit block of East Sharpnack Street.

Aug. 15 Shoplifting. A woman entered the wine and spirits store on the 7200 block of Germantown Avenue and left the store with tequila she didn’t pay for. 

Aug. 15 Theft. Security footage shows an offender entering an unlocked vehicle parked on the 6600 block of Blakemore Street and stealing a handgun. 

Aug. 16 Theft. A complainant reported having two bikes stolen from her front porch, located on the 200 block of West Mt. Pleasant Avenue. 

Aug. 16 Theft. A complainant reported having her car, which was parked on the 300 block of East Mt. Airy Avenue, rummaged through. Nothing was stolen. 

Aug. 17 Motor vehicle theft. A complainant left his car running while entering a store on the 7200 block of Stenton Avenue to buy cigarettes. When he came out, the vehicle was gone. 

Aug. 17 Theft. A complainant reported his scooter was stolen from his residence on the unit block of Piper’s Glen Way. 

Aug. 17 Theft of motor vehicle parts. A complainant reported her car’s catalytic converter being stolen while it was parked on the 6800 block of Ardleigh Street.

Aug. 17 Aggravated assault. A complainant witnessed his catalytic converter being stolen from his van, which was parked on the unit block of West Pomona Street. When the complainant chased after them, he was shot in the chest. 

Aug. 18 Aggravated assault. A man playing basketball at Pleasant Playground, located on the 300 block of Pleasant Street, was shot in the face and the buttocks by an unknown number of males. 

Aug. 18 Aggravated assault. A man was stabbed multiple times in the face, neck and back on the 6600 block of Chew Avenue. 

Aug. 20 Burglary. A complainant’s landlord on the 1300 block of East Johnson Street told her that police had knocked down the door to her apartment while she was away for three weeks to check for a dead body due to a bad smell coming from the location. However, police confirmed that they haven’t had any calls to that apartment since June. A TV had been stolen during that time.
