The following report is for crimes reported in Chestnut Hill and Mt. Airy for the period from April 16 - 23. 

Chestnut Hill

April 24 Shoplifting. A witness reported seeing multiple males leaving Serendipity, a store on the 8500 block of Germantown Avenue, with merchandise they did not pay for. 

April 27 Theft. Complainant reported hiring a moving company to help her move on the 8400 block of Prospect Avenue; a worker entered a prohibited onsite location and complainant later discovered wedding and engagement rings, and a checkbook were missing.

April 27 Motor vehicle theft. A complainant reported that an offender smashed her car window in the 7700 block of Crittenden Street and also broke the steering column.

April 28 Theft. A complainant at an office building in the 400 block of East Abington Avenue reported that checks were stolen from her office.

Mt. Airy 

April 24 Aggravated assault. A woman reported losing consciousness after being strangled by her child’s father after a verbal dispute in a house on the 200 block of Hortter Street. The offender was taken into custody by police after a pursuit on foot. Police also observed the victim’s injuries. 

April 25 Aggravated assault. Multiple complainants reported witnessing a man get stabbed on the 100 block of East Upsal Street. The man was transported by police to Einstein Medical Center where he is in stable condition. 

April 25 Motor vehicle theft. A complainant reported their car going missing on the 6600 block of Lincoln Drive. 

April 25 Theft. A complainant saw, on a security camera, a package containing shoes and a shirt stolen from a residence in the 1000 block of East Hortter Street.

April 25 Motor vehicle vandalism. A complainant reported four juveniles breaking a car’s rear window and breaking the ignition system in the 1000 block of East Phil Ellena Street.

April 25 Theft. Complainant reported an Amazon package stolen from a front porch in the 8000 block of Rodney Street.

April 26 Motor vehicle theft/vandalism Police pursued two men to the 5000 block of Devon Street, who then jumped from the back of a vehicle that had a broken back window and steering column.

April 26 Motor vehicle theft. Complainant reported the rear passenger window of his car on the 300 block of East Mt. Airy Avenue was broken and his steering column damaged.

April 26 Motor vehicle theft. Complainant reports he saw four juveniles pull up in a black Hyundai Elantra, break into his car and steal it on the 100 block of East Mt. Pleasant Avenue.

April 26 Theft. Complainant reported a male entering the Wawa on the 7200 block of Germantown Avenue and stole merchandise. 

April 26 Motor vehicle theft. A complainant reported a broken rear window in his car on the 1100 block of East Hortter Street and the steering column was damaged.

April 27 Motor vehicle theft. A complainant reported that his catalytic converter was stolen from a car parked on the 6400 block of Ross Street.

April 27 Motor vehicle theft. A complainant reported a catalytic converter was cut off her jeep parked in the 7100 block of Cresheim Rd.

April 27 Theft. A complainant reported a package went missing from outside her residence in the 1000 block of East Hortter Street.

April 28 Theft. A complainant reported having video footage of a person stealing a package off her porch on the 200 block of East Upsal Street and then fleeing down the street.

April 30 Aggravated Assault A victim said he was walking to the store in the 100 block of Pleasant Street when he heard gunshots and realized he was shot. The man was taken to a medical facility by a neighbor. Another victim was attending a vigil in the same area when a black sedan drove by and shots were fired from inside the car. The second victim was shot in the left thigh and also taken to a medical facility.
