The following crime report is for crimes reported in Chestnut Hill and Mt. Airy for the period from Aug. 2 to Aug. 13. (Some crimes that occurred on dates earlier than the current period but weren’t reported until later may be included.)

Chestnut Hill: 

Aug. 2 Theft. A woman reported that she has ring camera footage of an offender taking a package from her home on the 8200 block of Saint Martins Lane.

Aug. 4 Theft From motor vehicle. A complainant stated that someone smashed the passenger front window of their vehicle on the 400 block of West Willow Grove Avenue, and stole a bag containing multiple IDs, EBT, a social security card, a passport, and cash. Camera footage at the Philadelphia Cricket Club reveals the incident.

Aug. 5 Burglary. A man said that his garage was broken into on the 7800 block of Navajo Street and his scooter was taken. The complainant and the police were able to track down the offender in possession of the scooter on the 100 block of East Price Street with an air tag that the owner attached to the scooter.

Aug. 6 Theft. A man’s ring camera footage caught an offender taking multiple packages from his house on the 100 block of West Mermaid Lane.

Aug. 6 Motor Vehicle Theft. A woman told police that when she came back from vacation, her vehicle was gone from a parking spot on the 7700 block of Stenton Avenue.

Aug. 7 Theft From Motor Vehicle. A complainant told police that someone broke the driver’s side rear window of their vehicle that was parked on West Bells Mill Road and Orange Trail, and stole a purse containing cash, credit cards, and orthopedic sandals.

Aug. 8 Theft. A man left the Acme with several items that he didn’t pay for on the 7700 block of Crittenden Street.

Aug. 10 Theft From Motor Vehicle. An unknown offender took cash from a parked vehicle on the 7800 block of Ardleigh Street.

Aug. 10 Theft. A woman told police that someone took $50 from her bedside dresser in a retirement home in the 100 block of Bethlehem Pike.

Aug. 11 Theft. A woman suffered a seizure while waiting for an uber and passed out on the 8800 block of Germantown Avenue, and then woke up with her phone missing. She tracked the phone to Barrington, New Jersey.

Mt. Airy

Aug. 3 Theft from Motor Vehicle. A complainant reported that his car parked on the 7600 block of Germantown Avenue was broken into while he was doing construction work, and the offender stole his firearm and holster.

Aug. 5 Theft of Motor Vehicle Parts or Accessories. A man reported that an unknown offender removed the license plate from his vehicle parked on the 700 block of East Upsal Street.

Aug. 6 Burglary. A man who is in the process of selling a house on East Hortter Street reported that two toilets, an oven microwave, power tools, dining set, two end tables, and other small kitchen appliances were taken from the house. The items were missing after the man, who had shown the house to prospective buyers, returned days later and found that the side door of the house appeared to have been forced open.

Aug. 6 Theft. A woman said that her bike was stolen from the rear of her property on the 7600 block of Germantown Avenue. 

Aug. 6 Theft. A woman told police that an unknown person entered her yard and garage on the 6800 block of Anderson Street and took two bikes worth up to $1,350.

Aug. 7 Motor Vehicle Theft. A woman reported that someone stole her parked vehicle on the 300 block of West Mount Airy Avenue.

Aug. 7 Robbery. A complainant said that he was robbed at gunpoint on the 400 block of West Hortter Street and the offender took a silver chain, silver rolex, and cash.

Aug. 8 Theft From Motor Vehicle. A complainant reported unknown offenders broke the passenger side window of a vehicle on the 6800 block of Wissahickon Avenue and took two prescription sunglasses and avis rental car keys.

Aug. 8 Motor Vehicle Theft. The police recovered a vehicle on Meehan Avenue and Boyer Street that had a broken driver’s side window and a steering column that was tampered with. Police went to the owner's address who didn’t even realize the vehicle was missing.

Aug. 9 Theft of Motor Vehicle Parts or Accessories. A complainant reported that their parked car on Lincoln Drive and Mt. Pleasant Avenue had its catalytic converter taken.

Aug 9 Burglary. A man stated that unknown offenders broke into his garage on the 600 block of Vernon Road and took an electric bike, and then proceeded to go into his kitchen and take credit cards and cash.

Aug. 10 Theft of Motor Vehicle Parts or Accessories. A man told police that his license plate was removed from his parked vehicle on the 1500 block of East Mount Airy Avenue.

Aug. 10 Theft. A complainant reported that a man stole Red Bull and 4-Hour energy drinks from the Wawa on the 7200 block of Germantown Avenue.

Aug. 11. Motor Vehicle Theft. A woman reported that the rear passenger side window and steering column of her vehicle was damaged on the 400 block of West Sedgwick Street.

Aug. 12 Theft. A man stated that his TD bank card was taken on the 6900 block of Germantown Avenue and was used by an unknown person.

Aug. 12 Theft. A complainant said that someone took six to eight bottles of wine from the Acme market on the 7700 block of Crittenden Street without paying for them.

Aug. 12 Theft From Motor Vehicle. A complainant told police that someone took cash, ID, a license to carry, and a bank card from his parked vehicle on the 200 block of East Cliveden Street.

Aug. 13 Burglary. A woman said that after she went to bed, an unknown offender entered her home on the 400 block of West Hortter Street and took the complainant’s credit card, insurance card, cash, purse, and silverware.
